Babeth - Bébé Reggae

Finest French Balearic tune sung by femme fatale Babeth Étienne, who was then Johnny Hallyday's wife, for a brief period.

But it sounds in no way like anything Johnny Hallyday ever recorded. The atmosphere is what we imagine a cocktail party, by a pool in Cannes, must have sounded like in the 1980's. It's suave, it has very little to do with reggae, and though ridiculously naive, the vocals are backed by brilliant arrangements. My favourite kind of songs from the "French Boogie" corpus : the sweet and sour one, that inevitably recalls the last days of Summer, in the vein of Bella Vista's Mister Wong.
