Detente - Ghosts
Detente - Ghosts
Of course, I'd love a vinyl reissue of Ghosts, one of the releases i listen to the most in 2024, but I'm pretty happy with a CD, as I've been driving a lot this year, and my car is old, and all I can listen to are FM radio stations and CD's. As a matter of fact, Detente's music is quite a perfect driving companion: dreamlike soundscapes filled with waves and steamboat horns, Slowdive-esque guitar riffs, piercing electronic sounds on soft ambient tunes... this album's name fits it well.
Ghosts gets us to hear the brightest side of hauntology, like a happily post-modern cousin of Leyland Kirby and Burial. Just like his fellow British "hauntologists", Detente is a very precise producer and the overall sound of Ghost is vast: it fills the room perfectly with bright reverbs, sharp arppegiators and detailed field recordings elements. An immersive listening experience that seems enhanced by the CD format and the infinite loop it create. Immersive, highly emotional and strangely universal: a beautiful trip down memory lane no matter when or where you were born. (M/M wholesale: shops, contact us)
