Legendary recordings of Emmanuel Chabrier by one of the greatest French music performer of the 20th Century, Marcelle Meyer, eventually joined by none other than Francis Poulenc on Valse Romantique pour 2 Pianos. Straight classical music but of stellar quality. Perfect 1981 repress of a 1950's legendary and invisible record.
It's quite a blessing that Pathé bought the rights for a lot of mid-century French classical recordings in the 1960's. Not only is the original pressing invisible, even in not-so-good condition, but the remastering work on this is just jaw-dropping. And I mean it. It feels like Marcelle Meyer and Francis Poulenc recorded in state-of-the-art 1980's studios. I doubt that the original pressing sound half as good as this. Excellent and in pristine condition.
