Left Handed Dream is Sakamoto's first "major" breakthrough as a solo artist, in Europe. Light-years ahead of about everyone else, he delivers a perfect techno pop album, creating enduring Japanese pop music tropes for western audiences. Alternating between uplifting anthems like "Venezia" and complex ambient tunes like " かちゃくちゃねぇ", it reflects the same kind of dystopian technology-thirsty universe than Akira or Ghost In The Shell.
