A minor release in the Will Odlam / Bonnie Prince Billy galaxy, with some standouts tracks. Released at the same time as Will's masterpiece I See A Darkness, this LP showcases a similar, yet slightly more southern sound, that recalls Jason Molina's Magnolia Electric Co.
There are some ups and downs on this Ned Odlam (Will's brother) led LP Will's brother, released in 1999 on Will Odlam's own Drag City's sister label, Palace Records, but some trully beautiful moments, including its title-track. Its name obviously triggered my curiosity, as I'm kind of obsessed with anything that has to do with the end of a summer. And it did not disappoint: a slow, bluesy ballad recalling weird childhood memories. It marks the opening of the B-side of the record, that kinda slap, with the Southern Rock jam "Night Is Most Uncertain". The kind of sad indie rock you'd be happy to listen on your way home from school, in the 2000's.(VG+/VG+)
