Deep River Records - LP
US, 1977
AOR / Folk / Soft Rock
Nice Soft Rock private press from 1970's Oregon with *good* songs. Grey Today and Feathers In The Wind both recall the genre's best moments : the bittersweet and slightly doomed ballads.
Ok, this might be a cheap record, and probably not that exciting if you've been living in the US and digging for +20 years, but for someone like me, this is exactly the kind of stuff I was excited to discover in cheap bins in the states : nice west coast AOR LP, with an americana trope and that actually features good songs!
The overall vibes are nice (I especially like the "Banjo Raga" interlude - because Woody Simmons is also a banjo player) but two songs clearly stand out: the bittersweet Feathers In The Winds and Grey Today, which both remind me of Future Games-era Fleetwood Mac with its minor-major chords alternance and vocal harmonies.
The probability you find this record outside the US is close to none, so if you're not a Discogs snob, are living in the EU and have a thing for perfectly crafted west coast soft rock, this is a strong copy to go for. (VG+/VG with OG printed inner sleeve)
